Bhubaneswar: A recent meeting led by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Satyabrat Sahu concentrated on significant initiatives from the Forest, Environment, and Climate Change department, particularly focusing on tourism enhancement for Nandankanan and Chilika.
Sahu emphasized eco-tourism and conservation efforts, revealing plans for Nandankanan Biological Park that include a tunnel aquarium, a botanical garden, an animal exchange program, the revitalization of Kanjia Lake, and the introduction of a ropeway and metro station adjacent to the park.
In a bid to boost tourism, the Chilika Development Authority is set to launch two large boats along with a solar-powered vessel for visitors to the renowned lake. Furthermore, red sandalwood will be made available for sale through international tenders managed by the Odisha Forest Development Corporation.
Sahu also discussed departmental procedures, insisting that retirement pensions be issued on the day of retirement and urging the swift processing of 432 applications under the Revised Assured Career Progression (RACP) and Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) schemes.
He highlighted the importance of addressing public complaints promptly, particularly those submitted through the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell and the Jana Sunani portal. Additionally, he stressed the need for quick resolution of contempt of court cases to avoid unnecessary court appearances by senior officials.
Regarding recruitment, the department has reached out to the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to facilitate examinations for 45 Assistant Conservators of Forests and 131 Range Officers, while also coordinating with the Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) for 1,677 Forest Guards.
